Katelyn Thornley began to sneeze three weeks ago and she has been sneezing non stop. The 12 year old erupts up to 20 times a minute. In a continuous burst of high-pitched ‘achoos’ which is around 12 hundred times everyday. All doctors have been leaf baffled despite visiting six different doctors. They are unable to explain what is triggering the st*range condition. Viruses, colds and allergies which are typical conditions that cause regular sneezing have been ruled out.
The 7th grader from Angleton, Texas gets relief only when she falls asleep at the end of each tiring day. The 7th grader said, ‘I’m constantly in pain with my abdomen, my legs are weak, I can barely eat.’ She also has difficult time going to school because her class mates make fun of her. She added, ‘Sometimes I wish I could leave my body for a little while so I could watch myself sleep and be at peace because even in my dreams, I sneeze. I don’t care what they do, I just want it to stop.’
There is one explanation that she could be suffering from tics. It is similar to those suffered by people diagnosed with Tourette’s.
Mother of the teenage said, ‘Life has for her stopped. Everybody is baffled. Nobody really knows how to treat it.’ They also tried hypnosis but it failed to cure the teenagers condition.
