Koirala called Oli Sunday evening and urged him that the two parties should move ahead together to fulfill the responsibility of promulgating constitution in time.
He also told Oli that his party is committed to the 7-point agreement signed by the two parties a week ago, a day before prime minister’s election.
Based on the 7-point deal, UML had supported Koirala’s candidacy for Prime Minister. The deal also said NC would support UML’s candidate for the post of Speaker.
Parliament is holding election for the Speaker on Tuesday.
The relationship between the two parties has soured immediately after the prime minister’s election as UML has accused NC of not keeping its promise to give Home Ministry to UML. NC has denied that it ever made such a promise.
Some UML leaders had expressed doubts that the NC would keep its promise by supporting UML’s candidate for the post of Speaker.
Addressing media persons a few days ago, UML Secretary Bishnu Paudel had said that he would not be surprised if NC voted against UML candidate.
Another Secretary Shankar Pokharel in his facebook status said that UML would withdraw its support extended to Koirala government if NC voted against Nembang.
