South Dakota Highway 87 is highway Black Hills of the U.S States of South Dakota.
It passes through the Custer State Prak and the Wind Cave National Park. It is closed during the winter because of the highways’s mountainous and curving nature.

From the start,South Dakota Highway 87 is a very twisting and winding route, with a 180° hairpin turn which only a one-half mile (800 m) from the southern end. This results in the route taking a westerly track, though it eventually turns back north and crosses Beaver Creek.

The northern terminus of this road is U.S. Route 16 and U.S. Route 385 which is about 3 miles south of Hill City. The southern terminus is U.S. Route which is about 6 miles east of Pringle, South Dakota, or 14 miles north of Hot Springs. The northern of the highway is also known as the Needles Highway which is of 14 miles.

The Needles Highway along with the US 16A concurrency are also the part of the Peter Norbrck Scenic Byway. Also the portion of the highway are the section of Custer State Park’s Wildlife Loop. It has the narrow roadway, sharp turns, and low tunnels. This highway has the very little traffic. The vehicles that do travel this road are almost exclusively sightseers.

Highway 87 serves as the northern terminus of SD 89,just after Needles Eye Tunnel. After this junction, SD 87 has one more tunnel, Hood Tunnel.Then this highway provides access to the Sylvan Lake Resort. The route finally ends at US 16/385 south of Hill City.
